Welks 2016 – Bolognese Judge’s Critique

It was wonderful to be invited to judge the Bolognese at this year’s WELKS show. The weather was relatively kind to us and we had a very good number of 20 entries. I would like to comment that the show was very well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I had a lovely selection of exhibits to judge, all of which were well prepared.

Puppy dog or bitch – Abs 3

  1. Davidson – Lafford Errol Flynn for Sharlana – Very well presented puppy, strong pigment, lovely top line. When he moved, he moved well with confidence. Look forward to seeing him mature. RBD BP.
  2. McArdell – Gerry Maty Ve Maria at Phendelle (IMP CZH) – Another nice puppy, moved well, preferred the outline of 1

Junior dog or bitch – Abs 1

  1. Phendelle – Hunky Dory Al B (IMP CZH) In good coat, correct texture. Nice pigment and well balanced. Moved with confidence.
  2. Franklin – Starexpress Melody Road -Very well presented, in good coat, correct texture. Nice outline on the move.
  3. Blakeway – Bellablakes Saphire Star

Post graduate dog or bitch – Abs 0

  1. Towers – Tumbril Tennessee Honey- Liked this bitch. Good all rounder. Lovely square outline, and dark expression. Moved very well with presence and confidence today. RBB.
  2. Blakeway – Bellablakes Loving Arms – Nicely presented bitch. Well balanced and showed extremely well. Just preferred the expression of 1. today.

3 .  Hough – Donocielo Allesandro at Strophair

Open dog – Abs 0

  1. Hewitson – INT CH Predatino Benji at Moorhey – Lovely dog, beautiful square outline and expressive dark pigment. Nice head and coat correct texture. Great presence in the ring. Moved well, free and sound. BD RBOB
  2. Blakeway – Bellablakes Marczipan Star – Nice boy and is maturing well. Well balanced with positive movement. Nice dark pigment.
  3. Towers – Tumbril Timelord

Open Bitch – Abs 0

  1. Franklin – Starexpress Italian Skies – Extremely well presented bitch, nice top line and moved very smoothly today. Very confident in the ring. Lovely dark expression and correct bite. just had the edge on BD today. BB BOB
  2. McArdell – Tumbril Tantrums and Tiaras – Nice bitch, lovely coat texture and well balanced. Nice sound movement , just preferred presentation of 1 today.
  3. Hewitson – Moorhey Dolly Daisy
